Mind Maps

Visual Intensive learning is a part of my every day lessons in teaching K-12.  Mind maps are great tools and I try to use lots of different colours and photos when presenting my mind map for a lesson.  It allows for a greater understanding of the diagram with the age learners I deal with.   I find that students are easily distracted, get bored quickly and certainly do not like to write a lot of notes and so mind mapping certainly makes my job a little easier and learning a little less complex.  Personally, mind mapping assist me in studying and organizing my information even before I present my work in a 2000 word essay form.

I appreciate the fact that mind mapping diagrams are used to represent words, tasks, ideas or other items relating to a central key word or idea.  A few of the biggest advantages of mind mapping are that they help you to take notes, brainstorm complex problems and think creatively.   I find that mind map/concept map is a great tool for brainstorming in a constructivist classroom as well as it engages the students collaboratively!

Thanks Group 9 for an awesome week and enlightening me further on other mind mapping tools!
